My Resignation Not Admission of Guilt – Nnaji.

The Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Nnaji, has stated that his decision to resign from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet does not signify an admission of guilt, but rather a personal decision.

Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, conveyed his resignation in a letter to the president on Tuesday, in which he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.

This was revealed in a statement personally signed by him in Abuja.

Nnaji had been appointed as a minister by President Bola Tinubu’s administration in August 2023, but chose to resign amid controversy regarding allegations of certificate forgery.

He explained that in the past week, a coordinated and persistent campaign of falsehood, driven by political motives and malicious intent, had been launched against him through print, electronic, and social media channels.

He stated that these baseless accusations and media misrepresentations had not only caused him personal distress but also disrupted his official duties.

According to him, he had spent fifty years building a reputation rooted in diligence, integrity, and service to humanity.

He added that he could not, in good conscience, allow these false narratives to undermine the noble goals of the current administration.

“My decision to step aside is therefore a personal choice, not an admission of guilt. It is a principled decision to respect the sanctity of due process and to preserve the integrity of the judicial proceedings currently before the court,” he said.

Nnaji expressed confidence that, ultimately, justice would prevail and the truth would be upheld.
