Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua and his wife, Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe, have made history by holding Nigeria’s first-ever wedding on a moving train.
The unique ceremony took place on Sunday along the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge Railway, where a train coach at the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station was transformed into a beautifully decorated venue on wheels.
Departing from the Alagomeji-Yaba Station in Lagos, the train carried the couple, their guests, and their love story along the tracks—both literally and symbolically.
After their traditional wedding, the couple’s white ceremony defied convention. As the train moved along its route, the coach—lavishly decorated with flowers and filled with music—became the perfect setting for the couple’s exchange of vows, rings, and a kiss that sealed their union. Guests, including Nollywood actor Stan Nze, cheered as history was made.
The creative vision for the event came from the bride, Sharon, an experienced event planner, whose imagination turned an ordinary train journey into an extraordinary celebration—one that set both hearts and wheels in motion.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) joined in celebrating the moment, praising the couple for their creativity and the innovative way they highlighted the country’s modern railway system.
“From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track,” the NRC posted. “History made the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination.”
