Release Sowore Or Face Another Nationwide Protest—TIB Warns Tinubu.

Tinubu.

The Take It Back Movement has warned President Bola Tinubu’s administration of an impending nationwide protest if the former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Party and activist, Omoyele Sowore, is not freed.

The movement issued the warning in a statement released on Wednesday and signed by its coordinator, Sanyaolu Juwon.

This follows Sowore’s arrest by the Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday in connection with a protest held on Monday to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

Explaining the reason for the arrest, police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said Sowore was apprehended for leading protesters into restricted zones in violation of a standing court order.

Reacting to the arrest, the Take It Back Movement cautioned that it would mobilise Nigerians for large-scale demonstrations if Sowore was not released without delay.

“We wish to categorically warn that any form of detention, harassment, or intimidation of Sowore by the NPF or any arm of the Tinubu regime will be met with an immediate, nationwide mass action.

“Let it be clearly known: if Sowore is not released immediately and unconditionally, the Take It Back Movement, alongside progressive organisations across the country, will mobilise citizens for sustained protests and civil disobedience actions until he regains his freedom,” the group declared.
