Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and political activist Omoyele Sowore have been freed from Kuje Prison after fulfilling their bail conditions.
Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel, was also released from the correctional facility on Monday, together with several others who were detained for participating in the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.
Sowore, who organised and led the protest, was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force when he went to the Federal High Court in Abuja during Nnamdi Kanu’s trial.
They were subsequently arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Kuje Area Council, which granted them bail last Friday.
A video published by SaharaReporters on Monday showed Sowore, Ejimakor, Prince Emmanuel, and the others leaving the prison premises with their belongings while chanting a solidarity song.
Reports also indicated that Ejimakor collapsed and was taken to the Kuje Prison clinic for urgent medical care.
