President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday met with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, took place three days after their appointments were announced and marked the President’s first official session with the new military heads.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the appointments are part of a broader strategic restructuring aimed at promoting professionalism, improving morale, and enhancing inter-agency collaboration in national security operations.
Those present at the meeting included the new Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye, who maintained his position, was also in attendance.
Although details of the President’s message to the Service Chiefs were not made public, sources within the Villa disclosed that discussions focused on national security priorities, ongoing counterterrorism efforts, and the administration’s determination to sustain peace and stability across the country.
