Professor Mahmood Yakubu has officially transferred the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to May Agbamuche, who has now taken over as the Acting National Chairman of the commission.
Agbamuche, noted as the longest-serving National Commissioner within the commission, stepped into the role after Professor Yakubu handed over on Tuesday during a session with Resident Electoral Commissioners held at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the handover, Professor Yakubu encouraged both commissioners and directors of the commission to offer their full cooperation and support to Agbamuche "until a substantive chairman is appointed."
