The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti has warned those allegedly plotting to rig the 2027 governorship election in Abia State to “write their will” before attempting to subvert the people’s will.

Speaking during his monthly media chat in Umuahia, Otti said he received reports that some political actors were planning to “take over the state” through unlawful means. “If they must write result, they should write something else before that time “their will”. Because this is our state; nobody can intimidate us,” he warned.

The governor cautioned politicians against premature campaigns, saying it violates electoral laws. He urged aspirants to wait for INEC’s timetable before starting campaigns.

The statement by the governor came as reaction to the claim by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu that he would do everything within his powers to make sure that Abia State becomes APC, even if it means rigging the election in 2027.
