Abia, Akwa Ibom States Partner On Railway, Seaport Projects.

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has emphasised the significance of the proposed railway project to the economic growth and development of the state. 

Speaking on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd, Otti revealed that the Akwa Ibom State Government had shown interest in partnering with Abia State to establish a rail link connecting both states.

He noted that the joint initiative, once achieved, would greatly enhance trade relations and strengthen cultural and economic ties between the two neighbouring states. 

Otti stated, “During my recent discussion with my colleague in Akwa Ibom, he expressed a strong desire to link Akwa Ibom with Abia due to our trading and cultural relationship. So, it’s something you may want to look into. There is already a design in place, but you may choose to review or redesign it,” he told the Chinese delegation.

Governor Otti also invited the company to participate in the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park (AIIP) project located at Owaza in Ukwa West Local Government Area, as well as in efforts to revive several moribund industries across the state. 

He further announced that the feasibility study for the Azumini Seaport project was nearing completion, expressing his administration’s readiness to collaborate with China Harbor Engineering Company in developing the seaport.

In response, the Managing Director of China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd, Jason Wang, assured the Governor of the company’s readiness to partner with Abia State in executing the outlined projects.
