Anthony Joshua To Earn £70m In Fight With Jake Paul.

Anthony Joshua is reportedly poised to earn an impressive £70 million from a highly anticipated fight with internet sensation-turned-boxer Jake Paul, as advanced talks continue for a blockbuster event expected to take place in Miami next month.

Sources close to the negotiations reveal that a massive total purse of approximately £140 million is being discussed, with Joshua and Paul expected to share the amount equally if the fight is confirmed.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, warned on Thursday that the deal has not yet been finalised. This would be the 36-year-old’s first fight since his heavy loss to Daniel Dubois over a year ago, with announcements likely to be made early next week.

The contest will be officially sanctioned as a professional bout under Queensbury rules, rather than an exhibition match.

Netflix has played a significant role in pushing the fight forward, eager to stream the event. The platform, which is currently producing a documentary on Joshua, previously aired Paul’s November 2024 fight against Mike Tyson, which drew over 60 million viewers.

Jake Paul’s collapsed matchup with lightweight champion Gervonta Davis has sped up renewed negotiations with Joshua’s camp after more than a year of speculation about the potential fight.

“It is not done yet,” Hearn told the Daily Mail.

“There’s been a lot of premature talk. I think Jake Paul would be foolish to take the fight, but talks are ongoing. Initially, we were considering a low-profile fight for AJ, but this opportunity could generate 50 times the revenue.”

Responding to criticism of the spectacle, Hearn said, “Would this be great for Joshua’s legacy? No. But he’s a two-time heavyweight world champion and Olympic gold medallist. If Paul wants to get in the ring, fair play — AJ isn’t messing around.”

Paul holds a 12-1 record, mostly against lesser-known and aging fighters, with his sole defeat coming at the hands of Tommy Fury.

Tyson Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, also commented, “People will criticise it, but I don’t see the problem. Both fighters are fit, so I’m not concerned. It will attract a huge audience. AJ doesn’t generate much noise in the US, but Paul does — people like drama. It will be a big draw.”

Besides the financial incentives, Joshua views the fight as a chance to shake off ring rust after a long layoff. He began light training earlier this year, had minor elbow surgery in May, and ramped up conditioning again in October.
