The administration of the current Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Mayoress Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada rolled out the drums to celebrate the unprecedented achievements of hers in the area of community development second to none in the whole of Lagos State as attestation to the fact that every politics is grassroot.
As could be seen by evidence on ground, the people of Ikosi-Isheri love their Mayoress and are willing to follow so long as the evidence are there that they would enjoy the full benefits if dividends of democracy.
Having taken her Orth of office for her second term on the 28th day of July, the Mayoress found it imperative to call her people of Ikosi-Isheri and declare to them, her stewardship, especially after their believe in her ability and gave her their madidate for a second term as Chairman.
Speaking at the event, originally made for the press but was overtaken by her well-wishers who could not stay and watch her stand alone, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada took her time to illustrate and showcase some of both her achievements in 100days and her future plans for the local government of her dreams.
She said, "I took the oath of office for a second term as your Executive Chairman and on July 28, I resumed duty with renewed commitment to deepen impact, sustain the gains of our first term and to expand the frontiers of inclusive governance in Ikosi–Isheri LCDA. Our first term was defined by action as we executed over 104 people-first oriented projects across healthcare, education, infrastructure, security, and market development.
We built and commissioned the "105-bedded Senator Oluremi Tinubu Primary Healthcare Centre, Ikosi (biggest in Nigeria both in size and equipment)", commissioned by the First Lady of Nigeria, who was represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, a facility now celebrated as a model for grassroots healthcare excellence in Nigeria.
We reconstructed both phases of the Ikosi Fruit Market and developed the Babajide Sanwo-Olu International Market, Ikosi, promoting organized trade and women’s empowerment. Our administration also invested in education and youth empowerment, improved road networks across wards, and ensured that governance was felt, not just seen.
Continuing, the Mayoress rolled out more projects executed by her administration guided by the Renewed Hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and T.H.E.M.E.S Plus of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu spurred the results achieved within the 100 days of the second term in office of Princess Abolanle Bada.
The celebration billed to last for 4days would experience the commissioning of projects built on purpose and commissioned with pride for the people, first of which would be the commissioning of Adetuberu Street, the longest road in Isheri, now fully reconstructed to ease vehicular movement and boost inter-community trade. Also, Isaac Omole Street and Temitayo Obisanyan Street, Olowora, roads that enhance access, beautify the environment, and improve property value. The commissioning of Onibeju Street, Shangisha; Princess Samiat Bada Street, Solomon Niran Aluko Street, Bello Folawiyo Street, and Yetunde Owoseni Street, Ikosi — critical neighborhood links connecting homes, worship centers, and small businesses, thereby promoting economic and social integration.
On day 3 of the event, there will be another sets of commissioning, which would be that of the New Mile 12 International Market (Phase II), a landmark project that empowers thousands of traders from across the country, creates employment and strengthens the position as Lagos’ hub of agricultural produce and commerce, in line with the *Renewed Hope* vision of economic inclusion and on day 4, there will be the commissioning of Science Road, Unilag Estate, strategically connecting educational institutions, housing estates, and business corridors, supporting learning, enterprise, and ease of movement under the "T.H.E.M.E.S Plus" infrastructure agenda.
The Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, will on Friday, November 7 at the Senator Bayo Oshinowo Hall inside the council secretariat, roll out what she called, "Renewed Hope Palliatives" to 2,000 beneficiaries in the LCDA, a practical reflection of compassion in governance as she is poised to impact live of people who live and work within the LCDA with a Low-Cost Housing Scheme for working-class families.
Also in the offing is the Ikosi–Isheri Recreational Centre, aimed to promote wellness, unity and youth engagement, a modern Fire Station for improved safety and emergency response, the reconstruction of Primary Schools in the LCDA to global standards of comfort and learning, a new palace of the Onikosi of Ikosi, which would be a heritage project symbolizing our unity and pride.
Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada would use every opportunity at her disposal to showcase her domineering position as a grassroot politician in not only Lagos alone, but across the country with her call for voter education by the people of Ikosi-Isheri as she says, "I also use this opportunity to encourage every eligible resident of Ikosi–Isheri to register, collect, and safeguard your Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Active participation in the democratic process is how we secure continuity of good governance and ensure that the Renewed Hope truly endures beyond words into generations.
Eulogizing the Executive Chairman, the representative of the Governor of Lagos State and Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Oluwatobi Oladepo praised the Mayoress for her impactful projects in the LCDA, saying she had done very well especially in making some of the projects are not concentrated at a particular area of the LDCA.
On his part, the Chairman of the Community Development Associations, CDA's in Ikosi-Isheri, Mr. Taiwo Dotun said there was nowhere in the LCDA that the impact of her leadership as Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri has not been felt, as she is a woman who makes and fulfil promises, a virtue only a few politicians possess in Nigeria.
