A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the interim forfeiture of Proxy Lagos Night Club, owned by socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, over alleged involvement in drug-related offences.
The club, located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, was ordered to be temporarily forfeited by Justice Musa Kakaki on Tuesday. The ruling followed an ex parte motion filed by Barrister Buhari Abdullahi, counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), marked FHC/L/MISC/1161/2025.
The respondents in the suit are Mike Nwalie (Pretty Mike) and Joachim Hillary.
Barrister Abdullahi, while urging the court to grant the application, said the motion was brought pursuant to several provisions of the NDLEA Act and relevant constitutional sections. He sought the court’s order for the interim forfeiture of the property to the Federal Government, to be placed in NDLEA’s custody, pending the conclusion of investigations.
According to the NDLEA’s motion, the property was allegedly used as a base for drug storage and abuse involving 169 cylinders (384.662 kilograms) of Nitrous Oxide (commonly known as laughing gas) and 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa. The agency requested the court to suspend all activities at the club until investigations are concluded.
The NDLEA’s counsel stated that the club was being used as a venue for illegal drug activities and preparation for a planned “large-scale drug party.” He argued that the property qualified for forfeiture under existing laws, as it was instrumental in the commission of drug offences.
The application was supported by a 22-paragraph affidavit deposed to by Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Nasiru Garba Bungudu.
In his ruling, Justice Kakaki said the motion had merit and granted all reliefs sought. The matter was adjourned until January 28, 2026, for a report on the progress of investigations.
According to the affidavit, the NDLEA received intelligence in October 2025 about preparations for a major drug party at Proxy Night Club. After several days of surveillance, operatives raided the club on October 26, 2025, around midnight, when the alleged party was underway.
During the operation, 169 cylinders of Nitrous Oxide and 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa were reportedly recovered from the premises. Over 200 people were arrested, including Pretty Mike and a staff member identified as Joachim Hillary, who was accused of distributing drugs within the club.
The NDLEA claimed tests confirmed the substances as narcotics and stated that the property was used as an instrument for committing offences under the NDLEA Act.
The agency further argued that the interim forfeiture was necessary to prevent the property’s misuse and preserve it pending the outcome of investigations, adding that no one would be prejudiced by the order.
Justice Kakaki agreed, granting the NDLEA custody of the nightclub until the investigation is concluded.
