Justice A. Bello of the Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the trial of Polycarp Andrew, a dismissed staff member and former exhibit keeper of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, to December 11, 2025.
Andrew is facing six charges related to criminal breach of trust after allegedly stealing more than ₦22 million from exhibits kept in his custody during his service as an exhibit officer. He reportedly fled after investigations linked him to the theft but was later arrested in Taraba State.
During the court session, Andrew pleaded not guilty to all charges. The prosecution counsel, H.M. Mohammed, informed the court that he was ready to call two witnesses—an EFCC operative and a representative from Opay Bank.
However, the defence counsel, D.B. Kwajafa, requested an adjournment, stating that he needed additional time to review a flash drive containing a video of the defendant’s extra-judicial statement, which was recently provided to him.
Mohammed objected to the request, arguing that the video evidence was irrelevant at the current stage of the case.
After listening to both sides, Justice Bello granted the defence’s application and adjourned the case to December 11, 2025, for hearing.
