A former Chief of Staff to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Major General Abdullahi Adangba Muhammed (rtd), has died at the age of 86.

The retired military officer reportedly passed away early Wednesday morning at his residence in Kaduna.

Widely known as Adangba, the late General once served as the Military Governor of the former Benue-Plateau State between 1975 and February 1976, during the regime of General Murtala Mohammed.

He was also the pioneer founder of the defunct National Security Organisation (NSO), which later evolved into the present-day Department of State Services (DSS), serving from 1976 to 1979.

Renowned for his brilliance and dedication, Abdullahi Mohammed held several key national security roles, including serving as Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua from 1999 to 2008.

Before that, he was the National Security Adviser to General Abdusalami Abubakar between 1998 and 1999.
