FULL LIST: US To Review Green Cards From 19 ‘Countries Of Concern’.

The Trump administration has announced that it will reassess the immigration status of all permanent residents, or “Green Card” holders, from Afghanistan and 18 other nations after the shooting incident involving National Guard personnel in Washington, D.C.

The announcement was made on Thursday, following the attack that took place on Wednesday. U.S. authorities identified the suspect as a 29-year-old Afghan citizen who had previously collaborated with American troops in Afghanistan.

According to AfghanEvac, an organisation that supports Afghans who have been resettled in the United States after the Taliban takeover in 2021, the suspect had been granted asylum earlier this year and did not hold permanent residency.

Joseph Edlow, the director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), said on X, “I have directed a full-scale, rigorous reexamination of every Green Card for every alien from every country of concern.”

This decision comes after an executive order signed by President Trump in June, which classified 19 nations as “of Identified Concern.” The directive placed a near-total entry ban on nationals from 12 of these countries, including Afghanistan.

The full list of the countries under this category comprises Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

Seven other nations are subject to a partial travel restriction, although some temporary work visas remain permitted. These countries include Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
