Gunmen Kill Prominent Benue Politician.

Residents of Tombo Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State are living in tension following the killing of a former councillor, Mr Atindiga Tsebee, who was ambushed and killed by suspected armed herdsmen.

The incident took place over the weekend along the Ayilamo–Anyiin road near Tsukwa Village, as the deceased was returning from a security meeting held to discuss the growing insecurity and frequent attacks in the area.

Sources revealed that the attackers ambushed the vehicle conveying the victim and started shooting at the occupants.

“The vehicle belonged to another community leader, Zaki Terngu Iorhuna.

“They were returning from a security meeting to discuss the spate of attacks in the communities when the armed herdsmen ambushed and opened fire on them, killing Tsebee on the spot,” the source said.

The attack has left the community in deep mourning and increased tension following renewed cases of violence.

Reports indicate that several residents have abandoned their homes out of fear of more attacks, while community leaders are appealing for a stronger military presence to curb further bloodshed in the area.

At the time of filing this report, attempts to reach the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, for confirmation were unsuccessful.
