LIFE IMPRISONMENT: Family Meets Nnamdi Kanu, Gives Update.

The family of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, has issued a new update on his condition following the life sentence handed down to him.

Kanu was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday after being found guilty of terrorism-related offences, a ruling that has sparked widespread reactions across the country after it was delivered by Justice James K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

In a message shared on his official Facebook page, Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, said he visited him shortly after the judgement.

According to him, Kanu reacted by questioning how the judge could convict him “under a repealed law, thereby invalidating all actions.”

He wrote: “After meeting with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, I asked for his opinion on the judgement delivered by James K. Omotosho.

“His response was laughter, followed by a question about the plausibility of Omotosho having the authority to convict him under a repealed law, making all actions null and void.

“He pointed out the obvious bias and frustration that led to the manufacturing of evidence that does not exist.

“He also asked what had happened to earlier judgements that had already exonerated him. At that point, I agreed with him. In conclusion, he said the judgement was a scripted outcome.”
