The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a major reduction in the Hajj fare for the 2026 pilgrimage, offering much-needed financial relief to intending pilgrims across the country.
The adjustment follows the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make the spiritual journey more affordable for Nigerian Muslims.
According to the updated figures released by the commission, which operates under the Presidency, the reduction varies by zone, with cuts reaching as high as N792,943.83 from the previous 2025 rates.
Pilgrims in the Southern Zone will benefit the most, as their fare has dropped from N8,784,085.59 to N7,991,141.76, marking a reduction of nearly N793,000.
Those in the Northern Zone will also enjoy significant relief, with the fare reduced by N760,915.83, now set at N7,696,769.76.
For the Borno and Adamawa Zone, which already had the lowest Hajj costs nationally, the new rate is N7,579,020.96, reflecting a decrease of N748,104.63.
NAHCON further announced December 5 as the final deadline for payment, urging intending pilgrims to complete their registration and payment processes before the set date.
