Nwachinemere Kalu-Agba, a Nigerian-born politician, has been reappointed as Deputy Mayor (Mayor Pro Tem) of Orangeburg, South Carolina, for another two years ending in 2027.
The re-election was shared on Sunday through a Facebook post by Peter Agba Kalu, who congratulated Kalu-Agba and urged the public to celebrate his success.
Kalu-Agba also represents his district on the City Council. He had previously served as Deputy Mayor but stepped aside following a new state law that limits the Mayor Pro Tem term to two years and requires a break before re-election. This law prevents consecutive terms but permits former holders to return after a hiatus.
Once his successor’s term concluded, Kalu-Agba was reinstated and will continue his dual responsibilities as Deputy Mayor and City Council member. His current council tenure expires in 2027, when he may consider seeking re-election.
