Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has accused a coordinated group of using his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels’ health struggles to damage his reputation.
In a statement released by his office on Monday, Nwoko dismissed reports of marital issues, calling the allegations a deliberate attempt to criminalise him internationally.
He denied accusations of land grabbing, clarifying that the land in question was legally allocated for the University of Sports, a project benefiting the community.
Nwoko lamented that progress often invites attacks from within and accused some individuals of exploiting Regina’s admitted substance abuse.
“The facts are clear. Those using her condition to settle old scores, despite having no case against me, will face justice. Defamatory claims must be proven,” he said.
He insisted Regina has not made any credible allegations against him and that his concern is for her to seek rehabilitation, a condition he says existed before their marriage.
Nwoko referenced Regina’s own admissions and testimonies from her former schoolmates about her drug use and bipolar treatment, all documented in verifiable medical records.
He condemned false narratives aimed at ruining his reputation and warned those behind the smear campaign they will have to prove their claims in court.
Clarifying their marriage timeline, Nwoko said Regina, born October 10, 2000, was married at 19, not 17 as speculated, with her family publicly giving her away according to tradition.
“Our customs accept polygamy. I married her honourably, gave her a name, and treated her with dignity,” he added.
He described their marriage as open and transparent and expressed disappointment over the online attacks, calling it a political witch-hunt intended to undermine his work as a Senator.
“When a wall cracks, the lizard finds its way in. Regina has become a weak point for my enemies to attack me,” Nwoko said.
He concluded that the marriage is being twisted into a tool for political blackmail aimed at halting his developmental efforts.
