The Kano State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Adamu A. Kibiya, has officially received over 100 defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kibiya Local Government Area of the state.
The development was announced in a statement released by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Balarabe Kiru, on Wednesday in Kano.
According to the statement, the group, led by APC woman leader, Hajiya Sabuwa Tarai, decided to defect due to the visible development projects and people-oriented programmes initiated by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.
Tarai explained that the achievements recorded at both the local government and state levels under the governor’s leadership inspired their move to the NNPP.
“We are impressed by the numerous projects executed by Gov. Yusuf at the local government and state level,” Tarai stated.
Welcoming the new members, Commissioner Kibiya assured them of fair treatment and equal opportunities within the NNPP, urging them to contribute actively to the growth and success of the party.
