OYO APC YOUTHS TELL MAKINDE: Start Preparing Your Handover Note.

Makinde.

Youth members of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State have urged Governor Seyi Makinde to begin putting together his handover note ahead of the 2027 governorship race, saying residents are longing for new leadership, improved development, better security, accountability, and more focused governance.

Speaking during a media briefing at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, held in preparation for the Oyo APC Youth Summit, the State APC Youth Leader, Comr. John Aremu stated that the party’s youths are ready to champion the political shift the state urgently needs.

Aremu said the APC is determined to free citizens from what he described as the “bondage of the PDP-led administration under Governor Makinde,” insisting that the ruling party must begin arranging its exit.

He noted that Oyo State is ready for a renewed sense of direction, one driven by skilled, dynamic, and progressive young leaders.

“We are sending a loud and unmistakable signal to the PDP: APC is coming. The youths are rising. The movement has started,” he declared.

Aremu highlighted the reconciliation between former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin, and the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, calling it proof of APC’s restored unity and preparedness for victory in 2027. He stated, “We know what caused our defeat in the past, and we are rebuilding. There is no division in the APC today. All our gladiators are returning in unity. That’s our strength heading into 2027.”

Speaking on the upcoming APC Youth Summit, he explained that the gathering is intended to redesign the party’s future, reinforce its internal structures, and strengthen the APC’s progressive values. With unity as its guiding theme, the summit will draw young progressives from all zones, local governments, and interest groups to ensure that no youth is left out.

He said the summit will serve as a platform for genuine dialogue, self-review, and strategic thinking ahead of the next election cycle. According to him, “We must assess our strengths, weaknesses, and the gaps between leadership and the youth constituency—not to assign blame, but to chart a clearer progressive path forward.”

He added that the summit will unveil a youth-centred strategic roadmap focusing on political mobilisation, grassroots involvement, digital outreach, community impact initiatives, and campaigns rooted in issues.

“2026 is not far. The future of Oyo State must be planned today. This generation of APC youths is not just prepared for the future—we are ready to lead it,” he said.

Aremu concluded by reaffirming the party’s commitment to discipline, loyalty, and adherence to established party structures.

“Progressivism is built on discipline and loyalty. No party succeeds with indiscipline, and no youth structure thrives without order. We will continue to champion responsible leadership among our members.”
