The unemployment rate in the UK rose more than anticipated to 5% in the third quarter, reaching its highest point since early 2021, official figures showed on Tuesday.
This marks an increase from 4.7% in the previous quarter, according to the Office for National Statistics. The rise comes ahead of the UK government's budget announcement scheduled for November 26, which is expected to include tax increases amid slow economic growth.
