Veteran Yoruba actor, Prince Oyewole Olowomojuore, popularly known as Baba Gebu, has died after a brief illness.
Sources confirmed that the celebrated actor passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The news of his death was announced by fellow actor Kunle Afod, who described Baba Gebu as “a great legend” whose talent and contributions left a lasting legacy in the film industry.
Afod wrote, “It saddens my heart as I announce the passing away of our great legend, a great actor who passed away this evening after a brief illness… BABA GEBU may your soul rest in peace …”
Baba Gebu enjoyed a long and successful career in Yoruba cinema, featuring in numerous acclaimed films and stage productions.
His passing has triggered an outpouring of grief across Nollywood, with colleagues, fans, and admirers paying heartfelt tributes to honour the memory of the beloved actor.
