At least 11 Nigerian soldiers are presently being detained by the military authorities in Bobo-Dioulasso, located in the South West region of Burkina Faso.
They were taken into custody after their aircraft made an emergency landing while “violating AES airspace.”
This was confirmed through a statement released by the AES and shared on X by security analyst Brant Grant, on Monday night.
According to the AES, a Nigerian Air Force C-130 aircraft unlawfully entered Burkinabe airspace and then carried out an emergency landing in Bobo-Dioulasso.
The statement further issued a warning that any aircraft entering AES airspace without approval will be neutralised.
This situation arises shortly after the Nigerian government deployed its military aircraft to the Benin Republic on Sunday, following an attempted coup in the neighbouring country.
