Alaafin To Bestow Prestigious Title On Seyi Tinubu.

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, is expected to confer prestigious chieftaincy titles on Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari at a ceremony scheduled to hold on Saturday.

Information contained in a widely circulated flyer indicates that Seyi Tinubu will be installed as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland, while the former Zamfara State governor and current senator representing Zamfara West will be honoured with the title of Obaloyin of Yorubaland.

The invitation, jointly issued by the Alaafin and his wife, Ayaba Abiwumi Owoade, calls on members of the public to attend the chieftaincy installation ceremony slated for Saturday, December 21, 2025.

The Okanlomo of Yorubaland is considered a highly respected traditional title among the Yoruba people, commonly interpreted as “a beloved son” or “one cherished by all,” symbolising recognition, honour and prominence within Yorubaland.

Confirming the development during a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the Alaafin’s media aide, Bode Durojaiye, said the ceremony would go ahead as planned.

“Yes, the information is correct. The Alaafin of Oyo will install Seyi Tinubu as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland and Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari as the Obaloyin of Yorubaland,” he stated.

He added that an official statement providing further details of the event would be released to the media in due course.
