The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Waidi Shaibu has visited the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, at his palace in Sokoto State on Friday.
This was confirmed by the Nigerian Army through its verified X profile on Saturday.
It explained that the visit was aimed at “strengthening civil–military relations and fostering collaboration with traditional institutions.”
Shaibu, during the visit, assured that the Nigerian Army would work closely with community leaders to promote stability and coexistence across the country.
The Sultan of Sokoto, while responding to the Army Chief, commended the officers for their sacrifices and efforts in protecting citizens and property.
This visit to the Sultan took place less than two days after the United States launched airstrikes against ISIS targets in Sokoto State.
