FG Reveals Why Bandits Are Hard To Track In Nigeria.

The Federal Government has disclosed that armed groups and terrorists in Nigeria rely on advanced communication systems that make it difficult for security agencies to trace them.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, revealed that these criminal groups deploy specialised call-routing technology to protect their communications from surveillance.

Speaking during a television interview on Friday, the minister explained that the criminals divert their calls through several network towers, a process that prevents effective tracking.

He stated that bandits deliberately position themselves in remote locations without telecom infrastructure to further avoid detection.

According to Tijani, the calls are not transmitted through conventional towers, but instead are bounced across multiple points, making it nearly impossible to pinpoint their origin.

He added that once the criminals relocate, their signals vanish, allowing them to plan and launch attacks from areas with little or no network coverage.

The minister also disclosed that Nigeria is strengthening its satellite communication system to serve as a backup whenever terrestrial towers fail.

He said the country remains the only one in West Africa with its own communication satellites and confirmed that new satellites are being introduced to improve coverage and resilience nationwide.
