Professor Abdulganiy Raji, a former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, has passed away.
The late professor, who taught at the University of Ibadan, was from Ogbomoso in Oyo State.
Before his death, Raji was widely recognised as a major pillar of the Muslim community at the University of Ibadan.
Confirmation of his passing was announced on Friday evening through an official statement released by the University of Ibadan Muslim community.
The statement disclosed that the former REC would be buried in his hometown of Ogbomoso on Saturday.
The statement read, “Inna lillahi wa inna illaehi raajiuun. With a heart that is full of sadness but in total submission to the will of Allah, I am directed by the Chief Imam to announce the demise of a strong pillar of this community, Prof. Abdulganiy Raji.
“His janazah will take place at Ogbomoso tomorrow. The UIMC team will leave the campus for the burial by 6.30am tomorrow, in shaa Allah. May Allah grant him al-jannah fridaos. Aamin”.
Professor Raji is remembered for his contributions to academia, public service and religious life.
