Gov Fires Four Aides Over Alleged Attack On Councillor.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has sacked four of his senior aides after they were implicated in the alleged assault of a serving councillor.

The decision followed the submission of a report by a special investigative committee set up by the state government to probe the attack on Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, councillor representing Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the directive was conveyed through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.

The statement noted that the findings of the committee, supported by intelligence from security agencies, formed the basis of the disciplinary action.

Those dismissed are Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic); Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political); Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media); and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations).

Governor Yahaya ordered that the termination of their appointments should take immediate effect and directed them to hand over all government property in their possession to the appropriate authorities.

Misilli added that the governor reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for violence, misconduct, and abuse of office, warning that any form of indiscipline will be met with strict sanctions.
