I’m Ready To Prove My Case Against Akpabio – Natasha.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has stated that she is now prepared to prove her claims of sexual harassment against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

She made this known in Abuja on Friday in reaction to a N200 billion defamation suit filed against her by the Senate President, confirming that she had received the legal documents.

The senator explained that Akpabio’s lawsuit has provided her with the chance that the Senate Ethics and Privileges Committee previously denied her, allowing her to present her allegations before a court with the appropriate authority.

In her statement, the senator representing Kogi Central said that the court process has finally given her the avenue she has been expecting.

According to her, she intends to demonstrate that she was sexually harassed and that her refusal to give in to the alleged advances led to continuous political attacks directed at her.

“See you in court, Godswill Akpabio,” she stated.

The Senate President had initiated a N200 billion defamation case against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, asserting that she had published damaging claims suggesting he sexually harassed her.

Court filings from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory show that Akpabio is seeking extensive compensation, public retractions, and broadcast apologies across the country, insisting that her accusations caused significant harm to his reputation and exposed him to widespread public criticism.

The lawsuit, which comes with a detailed Statement of Claim and a list of proposed witnesses, maintains that Senator Akpoti’s interviews aired on television, radio, and were widely published online, portrayed the Senate President as someone who misused his office for personal benefit.

Akpabio contends that millions of Nigerians viewed or listened to the interviews, resulting in a strong public reaction that he describes as harmful, embarrassing, and deeply troubling.

He is requesting a court order to remove all online content containing the allegations and to mandate that apologies be broadcast on major media platforms for several days in a row.

A court directive issued on 6 November 2025 granted the claimant approval to serve legal documents on Senator Akpoti through the Clerk of the National Assembly, after earlier attempts to serve her directly were unsuccessful.

The case is now set to proceed, with both sides preparing for what is anticipated to become one of the most closely followed legal disputes in Nigeria’s political landscape.
