OSUN 2026: APC Plotting To Destabilise Our Party – Accord.

The Accord Party in Osun State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to cause an internal crisis by allegedly sponsoring a parallel governorship primary following the emergence of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the party’s candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

The allegation comes amid protests by a faction within the Accord Party after Adeleke secured the party’s ticket, with the group challenging the legitimacy of the party’s national leadership led by Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem.

Addressing the development, the Osun State Chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, said in a statement that “the plot of illegal parallel primary is to sow the seeds of disunity, confusion, and chaos in the state in the name of our party.”

He described the alleged move as another tactic by the APC, stating that the ruling party appears unsettled by the level of acceptance, popularity, and goodwill Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke (Imole) enjoys among residents of Osun State, particularly following his declaration of candidacy and affiliation with the Accord Party.

Akande argued that the APC has been unable to compete with the political momentum, support base, and influence commanded by Adeleke, which he said has pushed the opposition party to adopt covert strategies.

“APC is sponsoring one of their own card-carrying members to pose as an aspirant of the ACCORD in a bid to create a crisis in our own party and the state at large,” he alleged.

He emphasised that the Accord Party operates within the law and remains committed to democratic principles, stressing that only procedures approved by the party’s recognised national leadership are legitimate.

“We are a law-abiding, democratic, and peace-loving political party. This is to state that only processes recognised by the appropriate national leadership of the party are valid. As such, any primary or aspirant who is outside of this is invalid, null, and void,” Akande stated.

He called on security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and other relevant authorities to be vigilant over what he described as a scheme capable of disrupting peace in the state, adding that Osun State has moved past such political distractions.

In response, the APC, through its Director of Media, Chief Kola Olabisi, dismissed the allegation, insisting that the party is not interested in the internal affairs of other political parties.

According to Olabisi, the APC is focused on selling its candidate ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

“We held our primary on Saturday, and we successfully picked our candidate. We are not aware of any other political party primary,” he said.
