Otti Reveals Reason Behind Meeting With Tinubu.

Otti.

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has clarified that his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu was solely to discuss matters related to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Otti, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, denied claims suggesting the meeting was connected to plans of defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor’s spokesperson responded to allegations made by former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Charles Ogbonnaya, who said Otti met Tinubu to negotiate his possible defection ahead of the 2027 elections.

“It should be noted that Governor Otti met with the President after visiting Nnamdi Kanu at the Sokoto Custodial Centre on Sunday, November 30, 2025,” Ekeoma explained.

“This meeting is part of ongoing engagements the governor has maintained with the federal government on this issue over the past two years.

“The discussion with the President focused exclusively on Kanu’s situation, and thankfully, the meeting was positive and productive, with the President showing understanding and generosity,” he added.

Governor Otti had recently visited Kanu following his sentencing to life imprisonment by Justice James Omotosho of the Abuja Federal High Court.
