Riley Moore, who led the US fact-finding mission on Christian persecution in Nigeria, has revealed that Benue State hosts over 600,000 internally displaced Christians.
On Wednesday, the US Congressman shared on his verified X account about his visit to the IDP camps and the heartbreaking conditions faced by the displaced people.
The delegation also held meetings with local Bishops and the Tiv traditional ruler during their visit.
“During my time in Benue, I met many Christians who were forced to flee their homes due to brutal violence and are now living in displacement camps.
“They recounted tragic experiences that will remain with me forever. One woman told of witnessing her husband and five children being killed, escaping barely with her unborn child.
“Another woman’s family was murdered right before her eyes, and her baby was taken forcibly from her womb. One man’s family was slaughtered in front of him, and his arm was left permanently damaged.
“In Benue alone, over 600,000 Christians remain displaced. These people deserve to live peacefully in their native land without fear of violent attacks from Fulani herdsmen,” Congressman Moore said.
