President Bola Tinubu on Monday met privately with six governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The details of the discussions were not immediately available at the time this report was filed, and the meeting ended without any of the governors addressing the press.
Those present were the governors of Jigawa, Umar Namadi; Edo, Monday Okpebholo; Ekiti, Biodun Oyebanji; Kogi, Usman Ododo; Sokoto, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto; and Kebbi, Nasir Idris.
The meeting comes at a period of rising insecurity nationwide, with cases of abductions involving schoolchildren and worshippers recorded across the North-West and North-Central regions.
It will be recalled that on 26 November, President Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency and directed the army, police and intelligence agencies to expand recruitment and deploy thousands of additional operatives across the country.
