Eleven suspects have appeared in court over the killing of ARISE News Channel anchor Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, known as Sommie, and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami.
The incident occurred on September 29, 2025, during a robbery at their home in Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Mabushi District, Abuja.
The arraignment took place on January 21, 2026, at a Federal Capital Territory court. Those charged include Shamsu Hassan, Sani Sirajo, Hassan Isah, Abubakar Alkamu, Abdulsalam Saleh, Suleiman Badamasi, Zaharadeen Mohammed, Musa Umar, Mashkur Jamil, Suleiman Sani, and Abubakar Usman.
They face nine counts that cover criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder.
The court has postponed further proceedings to February 2026. Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
