The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has dismissed reports suggesting that Governor Dauda Lawal plans to defect to the party.
In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Malam Yusuf Idris, said the APC came across what he described as a fabricated report allegedly published by “Tambarin Gusau,” which claimed that the governor had written a letter expressing interest in joining the APC.
Idris characterised the report as malicious, baseless, and deliberately mischievous, stating that it was circulated in an unprofessional manner with the intention of misleading the public and causing unnecessary tension within the party.
He explained that the APC operates through established and responsible channels for handling all official correspondence and engagements.
According to him, the party has not received any letter from Governor Lawal and has no knowledge of any plan by the governor to leave the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC.
He therefore urged party members and the general public, particularly residents of Zamfara State, to ignore the report, stressing that it does not reflect the position or reality within the party.
