Edo PDP Hails Court Ruling On Convention.

The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the party’s South-South Vice Chairman, Dan Orbih, has welcomed the Federal High Court judgment that set aside the party’s recent national convention.

The ruling was delivered on Friday, January 31, 2026. Reacting to it in Benin City, the faction said the decision has brought direction to the party and created room for order and stability.

In a statement issued by the faction’s state chairman, Bar Nosakhare Ogieva-Okunbor, the group described the judgment as a turning point that can help the PDP move forward. He said the court decision supports internal rules and strengthens confidence among party members.

The Edo PDP faction urged members across the country to rally behind AbduLraman Mohammed as National Chairman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary. According to the statement, both leaders now have legal backing to guide the affairs of the party.

The group noted that the ruling has affirmed the leadership structure of the National Caretaker Committee and has cleared doubts surrounding the party’s administration. It added that this development would help rebuild party structures and improve coordination nationwide.

The statement further called on party members, supporters and stakeholders to put aside differences and work together. It stressed that cooperation and discipline are needed to restore the party’s strength and prepare it for future political contests.

The Edo PDP faction also said the judgment offers the party a fresh opportunity to renew itself and regain trust among its members and the public. It urged all loyal members to embrace the moment and contribute to the rebuilding of the PDP across the country.
