Ex-Nigerian Senator Dies In Abuja Hospital.

John Kojo-Brambaifa, a former senator who represented Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 5th National Assembly, has died.

Mr Brambaifa passed away on Saturday at a hospital in Abuja at the age of 81.

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, on Monday, expressed deep sorrow over the death of the former lawmaker, describing him as an illustrious son of the state and an astute politician who made notable contributions to public service.

“Bayelsa and Nigeria have lost an elder statesman, amiable gentleman, astute politician and a great community leader,” the governor said.

“Brambaifa left a legacy of unblemished and committed service to Nigeria, the old Rivers State, Bayelsa and indeed his community,” Diri added in a condolence message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah.

The governor extended his condolences to the Brambaifa family and the Agbere community in Sagbama Local Government Area, where the late senator hailed from.

“On behalf of the Government of Bayelsa State, I extend sincere condolences to the Brambaifa family and the Agbere community in Sagbama Local Government Area, where he hailed from,” he said.

Governor Diri urged the family and community members to take solace in Mr Brambaifa’s meritorious service and distinguished public and political career.

Until his death, Senator Brambaifa served as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Bassambiri, in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

He also previously served as chairman of Sagbama Local Government Council during the old Rivers State era and later as chairman of the Bayelsa State Board of Internal Revenue.
