A serious fire outbreak destroyed properties worth millions of naira at a building located at 1, Anore Street, Ajegunle, in the Boundary area of Lagos State.
The incident was made known on Thursday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, through a post on his Facebook page.
According to him, early findings showed that the fire started after a sudden rise in electricity power.
He explained that emergency officers were quickly sent to the area and were able to put out the flames before the situation spread further.
He added that the exact cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, even though the first report pointed to a power surge as the likely trigger.
Omotoso also said no life was lost during the incident.
Officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and other first responders were still at the scene after the fire was brought under control.
The incident has left many residents shocked, as valuable items inside the building were destroyed, while investigations continue to determine the full cause of the outbreak.
