The line-up for the quarter-final stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 has become clearer following Algeria’s qualification after their Round of 16 victory over DR Congo on Tuesday.
Seven of the eight teams have now secured their tickets to the next round of the continent’s biggest football tournament.
Algeria defeated DR Congo 1–0 after extra time in Rabat, with substitute Anis Boulbina scoring the winning goal in the 119th minute to seal their progress to the last eight. The result confirms a quarter-final clash between Algeria and Nigeria.
Nigeria earlier booked their place in the quarter-finals on Monday night with a dominant 4–0 victory over Mozambique, as Victor Osimhen scored twice to send the Super Eagles through.
Senegal, Mali, hosts Morocco, Cameroon and Egypt had already qualified for the last eight before Tuesday’s fixtures.
Meanwhile, defending champions Côte d’Ivoire became the final team to secure a quarter-final spot after a comfortable 3–0 win over Burkina Faso on Tuesday night in Marrakesh.
Côte d’Ivoire will now face Egypt in a much-anticipated quarter-final encounter on Saturday in Agadir, as they continue their push for consecutive AFCON titles.
Goals from Amad Diallo (20’), Yan Diomandé (32’) and a late effort from Bamba Touré (87’) handed the Elephants victory over the Stallions, with the Ivorians producing a composed and clinical display that reinforced their status as strong title contenders.
