FULL LIST: Top 11 Largest Oil Refineries In The World.

Dangote Group has entered into a contract worth more than $350 million with India’s government-owned firm, Engineers India Limited (EIL).

The agreement was disclosed by EIL in a statement issued recently. Under the deal, EIL will act as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) as well as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) consultant for the refinery expansion project.

This mirrors the role the company played in the construction and delivery of the existing 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery, which was officially commissioned in 2024.

Under the new plan, the refinery’s capacity will be increased from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day.

The expansion will be achieved through the installation of a second processing train and will concentrate on the production of Euro VI–compliant fuels.

In addition to refining operations, the project also involves a substantial expansion of petrochemical production. Dangote intends to raise polypropylene output from 830,000 tonnes per annum to 2.4 million tonnes per annum by upgrading its current polypropylene facility, installing a new 1.2 million-tonne unit, and adding a 750,000-tonne UOP Oleflex unit to enhance propylene feedstock supply.
