Iyabo Obasanjo Joins APC In Ogun State.

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has completed her registration as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.

The registration reportedly took place on Tuesday at Ibogun Ward 11 in Ifo Local Government.

The move was confirmed by Hon. Biodun Ajayi, a former chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government and a close ally of the Obasanjo family.

A former House of Representatives member from the area also confirmed her registration, describing it as accurate.

The APC’s Director of Publicity, Femi Nuberu, did not directly confirm the registration but noted that the party’s membership registration is open to all Nigerians aged 18 and above.

Obasanjo’s registration comes amid the APC’s ongoing membership drive ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She is an Associate Professor of Public Health at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and has previously served as Commissioner for Health in Ogun State from 2003 to 2007, and as Senator representing Ogun Central from 2007 to 2011.

Her political profile has been in the spotlight since late last year, when campaign billboards bearing her name appeared in Abeokuta, sparking speculation about a possible return to active politics.

A source close to her stated that her recent registration reflects her independent decision, not allegiance to any party.
