Lagos Opens Portal For 2026 BECE Registration.

The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of the 2026 electronic registration and payment process for the Basic Education Certificate Examination for all public and private junior secondary schools across the state.

The exercise, coordinated by the Lagos State Examinations Board, is scheduled to run from Monday, January 26, to Friday, March 27, 2026. It is designed to fully digitalise the registration process, eliminate the need for physical visits to the board’s office, and enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability.

Details of the exercise were disclosed in a statement shared on the state government’s official X platform on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the initiative forms part of the state’s wider effort to deploy technology in modernising examination administration and simplifying procedures for schools.

Providing further clarification, the Registrar of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr Adebayo Orunsolu, advised schools to ensure they use their newly issued School Codes during the registration process.

He explained that public junior secondary schools are required to download the Offline Data Capturing Application from bece.examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng to complete their submissions.

Orunsolu added that approved private junior secondary schools, schools operating with special permission, and continuing education centres are expected to access the board’s portal at pay.examsboard.com.ng to make payments, register candidates and generate their login credentials.

He stated that approved private schools and public continuing education centres are to pay a registration fee of N10,000 per candidate, while private schools with special permission and private continuing education centres are required to pay N15,000 per candidate.

The registrar further advised schools presenting candidates with special needs, including those with visual impairments or albinism, to inform the board in advance to allow for proper arrangements ahead of the examination.

The board also warned that late registration may attract penalties, noting that additional guidelines, where necessary, would be communicated to schools through zonal officers to ensure full compliance.
