NNPC Finds New Oil Well In Niger Delta.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reported the successful completion of the Awodi-07 appraisal and exploration well, operated by Chevron Nigeria Limited under their joint venture.

The well is situated in the shallow offshore region of the western Niger Delta and was drilled to explore and map the hydrocarbon potential in the area.

Drilling began in late November 2025 and concluded in mid-December 2025.

Operations were carried out carefully and met all regulatory and safety standards.

After thorough testing and data collection, the well was secured, marking the end of the exploration programme.

Initial results show a strong presence of crude oil across several reservoir zones.

This outcome boosts confidence in the joint venture’s assets and suggests the area has good potential for further development.

NNPCL operates multiple oil and gas fields in the Niger Delta in partnership with Chevron Nigeria Limited.

Under the agreement, Chevron holds a 40 percent stake while NNPCL owns the remaining share.

This partnership allows both companies to combine resources, skills, and investment to increase production and support Nigeria’s energy supply.

The joint venture aims to raise oil production to around 146,000 barrels per day, which could increase government revenue and create more jobs.

NNPCL’s management praised Chevron for its technical expertise and operational performance, noting that the discovery aligns with the company’s goal to grow the country’s hydrocarbon reserves responsibly.

Officials said the result reflects the value of careful exploration, strong partnerships, and the positive changes brought by the Petroleum Industry Act.

Both companies plan to continue working together to develop the Awodi-07 well and bring it into production efficiently.
