NNPC Increases Petrol Price.

The price of petrol has gone up again across major cities in Nigeria, with motorists now buying the product at ₦835 per litre in Lagos and about ₦839 per litre in Abuja.

The new prices were seen at several Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited retail stations, showing another upward change that may soon affect other parts of the country.

The increase came shortly after Dangote Petroleum Refinery reviewed its ex-depot price of petrol.

The refinery raised the gantry price from ₦699 to ₦799 per litre after ending the temporary support it introduced during the festive season.

According to the refinery, the earlier reduction was only meant to help Nigerians manage heavy spending during the holidays.

With the celebrations over, the company returned petrol pricing to what it described as regular market conditions.

Following this adjustment, filling stations selling Dangote petrol, including MRS outlets, also moved their pump prices to around ₦839 per litre, which is close to the new NNPC rates.

The latest increase has raised fresh worries among Nigerians, especially as transport costs, food prices, and daily expenses continue to rise.

Many households are already struggling with inflation, and higher fuel prices are expected to place more pressure on living conditions.

Dangote Refinery noted that this was the second time it reduced petrol prices during festive periods as a way to reduce pressure on the public, even though such support was not intended to last beyond the holidays.
