No Southern Candidate Better To Govern Nigeria Than Tinubu – Ganduje.

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has said no politician from Southern Nigeria is more fit to lead the country beyond 2027 than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He spoke in Abuja while receiving a group of youth leaders from Northern Nigeria, drawn from all 19 northern states, on January 31, 2026.

Ganduje dismissed claims that the North would oppose Tinubu’s re-election, saying such talks are wrong and misleading.

Ganduje stated that the belief that Northern voters would abandon Tinubu in the next election is a wrong calculation.

According to him, those expecting the North to support another candidate in 2027 are misunderstanding the political reality.

He explained that Tinubu stands out because of his long history in politics, adding that Nigeria is fortunate to have a president whose life has been deeply connected to political struggle and democratic values.

Ganduje said Tinubu’s background, growth, and experience are rooted in politics and national unity.

The former Kano State governor also spoke about Tinubu’s involvement in the fight for democracy, recalling his role during the military era.

He noted that Tinubu made personal sacrifices, including leaving the country for a period, to support the return of democratic rule.

Ganduje further referred to a political understanding reached before the election of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which allowed power to shift back to the South after eight years.

He said Tinubu has not spent up to four years in office yet but has already introduced policies aimed at improving the country’s social and economic situation.

He added that the steps taken so far by the Tinubu administration show direction and purpose, insisting that no other southern politician is better placed to continue leading Nigeria beyond 2027.
