Obi Questions Tinubu As Power Grid Fails Again.

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has raised concerns over Nigeria’s electricity supply after the national grid collapsed for the second time this month.

Obi reminded President Bola Tinubu of his 2022 campaign promise to provide steady power within his first four years in office.

He said the frequent outages go against what was promised to Nigerians.

Obi pointed out that the national grid had already failed twice in January 2026, with last year recording about twelve breakdowns.

He described the repeated failures as worrying and said they show a gap between promises and reality.

The former Anambra State governor also criticized the president’s frequent foreign trips, noting that Tinubu is currently in Turkey while domestic issues, including power supply, remain unresolved.

Obi compared the electricity situation in both countries, noting that Turkey produces over 120,000 megawatts of electricity, while Nigeria manages less than five percent of that capacity. He called the difference “painful.”

Obi urged the president to focus on national challenges instead of election preparations, suggesting that leadership should prioritize solutions to everyday problems Nigerians face.

He encouraged citizens to demand responsible governance and accountability from leaders to relieve the hardships caused by persistent power failures and other governance issues.
