On your way to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Idu, you will meet beautiful coffins displayed for sale. I'm very sure the parishioners of that church are so used to them now that they barely notice them anymore.
The sight of the coffins triggered some thoughts in me this morning as I drove to that church to say hello to their priest, who was newly posted there. I stopped to interact with the sellers. After the conventional pleasantries, I asked them this question: " Do you guys pray for prosperity for this business?" Without hesitation, they chorused, "Yes o Father, if God no bless us and we no sell, how we go dey take feed family and survive"?
Laughter
and asked if they know that the success of their business means people dying?
They said yes. I asked if they pray for people to die so they can sell more.
They said they don't need to pray for people to die, that death is natural and
will keep happening.

While it felt a bit awkward for me, they were totally comfortable with the
conversation. They are also christians and go to church like everyone else to
pray and worship God.
Osetigo,
oya answer me: " Does God answer the prayers of coffin sellers for success
in their business"? "As we pray for engineers, contractors, rice
sellers, bankers etc to succeed or prosper, should we pray for same intention
for coffin sellers"? Back your answers up with good reasons.
Let me
come and be going first.
