Police Intercept Vehicle Carrying 954 Explosives In Zamfara.

Authorities in Zamfara State have seized a large shipment of explosives suspected to be meant for bandits in the region.

The police intercepted a vehicle transporting 954 explosive items, and the driver, identified as Mustapha Mohammad, was taken into custody.

The operation was conducted by the Task Force on Illegal Mining, acting on information that led them to the suspect on January 27.

The man, 38, was driving a Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 933 EJ when officers discovered the explosives hidden in polyethylene bags inside the car.

Preliminary investigations suggest the materials were intended to make improvised explosive devices.

The seized items were handed over to the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit for secure storage and further examination.

Authorities are working to trace the origin and intended use of the explosives and to identify anyone else involved.

This seizure comes shortly after police stopped a truck carrying similar materials in Oyo State’s Saki area, showing a pattern of attempts to transport explosives across the country.

Investigations into the Zamfara case are ongoing, and authorities have said updates will be provided as new information emerges.
