The Presidency has assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is healthy and fully active during his state visit to Türkiye after a short video showed him stumbling at an event in Ankara.
The clarification came after the clip spread on social media and raised questions about the President’s condition.
The Presidency explained that the incident did not happen because of any illness but was caused by a poorly placed blue carpet at the venue.
Officials said the moment occurred during a welcome ceremony in the Turkish capital when the President briefly lost his balance.
He quickly steadied himself and continued with the programme without delay.
The Presidency added that the floor arrangement led to the slip and that there was no medical issue involved.
It dismissed online claims suggesting that the President was unwell.
Since then, Tinubu has continued with his official duties, holding talks with Turkish leaders as part of the visit.
He is also expected to appear at a joint press briefing with his hosts after the meetings.
The Presidency said the President remains in good condition, cheerful, and focused on Nigeria’s foreign relations.
Tinubu arrived in Ankara on Monday for the state visit aimed at strengthening ties between Nigeria and Türkiye.
